A beautiful, numbered limited edition of Irving's most popular works, printed on handmade paper at the Riccardi Press. Number 689 of 1000. 30:xi:1922. In a quarter cloth binding with paper covered boards. Externally, very smart with slight shelf wear only. Internally, firmly bound. Bright and clean throughout. Very nice small leather book plate on front paste-down, with slight offsetting. 'Rip Van Winkle' and 'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow' are short stories by the American author Washington Irving published in 1819 and 1820 respectively. Written while Irving was living in Birmingham, England, they were part of a collection entitled 'The Sketch Book of Geoffrey Crayon' and are among the earliest examples of American fiction still read today.
