This magazine is like a flipboard of Russian history with interesting articles through-out and two pages of advertising at the end. The 100th anniversary of the end of the Russian royal family has just passed, with the abdication of Tsar Nicholas II. (18 May [O.S. 6 May] 1868 - 17 July 1918) was the last Emperor of Russia, Grand Duke of Finland, and titular King of Poland. At the end of the 'February Revolution' of 1917 (February in the Old Russian Calendar), on 2 March (Julian calendar)/ 15 March (Gregorian calendar) 1917, Nicholas II chose to abdicate. He first abdicated in favour of Tsarevich Alexei, but swiftly changed his mind after advice from doctors that the heir-apparent would not live long if separated from his parents, who would be forced into exile. Nicholas drew up a new manifesto naming his brother, Grand Duke Michael, as the next Emperor of all the Russians. Item #393
