Collation: xxi, 458 pp. The fore edge of the table is dusted and partially frayed due to previous incorrect folding. There is minor spotting to the first and last two leaves. Glossary is by W.S Dallas. This is the third issue of the sixth edition, which is the final definitive text for the Origin corrected by Darwin himself. According to Freeman, the sixth edition is regarded as the last. It is again extensively revised and contains a new chapter, VII (to refute St. George Mivart) . (Freeman, p.79) Freeman also notes that this is the first edition where the word evolution is used and the title is changed to The . This is the first issue in standard binding using the same stereos as used for the 1872 printing of the 6th edition and included the summary of difference and the historical sketch (Freeman, 407).
